From Omaha to Africa: A Season of Growth and Global Impact

It has been an incredible spring for ROSS Leaders! From "Bowling with the Board" in Omaha to basketball clinics in Uganda and South Sudan, our mission of connection and leadership is reaching new heights. Inside this update, we celebrate our national champion athletes, welcome a new partnership with Raba Transport Service, and look ahead to an exciting summer of programming.

We recently concluded our spring programming with the successful event, "Bowling with the Board." This gathering brought together our board members, students, and Omaha community members for an evening filled with bowling, food, and laughter. It was a wonderful way to wrap up our spring programming and showcase the strong connections we have with the greater Omaha community. We look forward to continuing to build and strengthen these relationships in future events.

ROSS Leaders has wrapped up our academic programming on a high note. Both the Omaha and Lincoln chapters ended their spring sessions with valuable bonding time for the students and a chance to reflect on the semester's highlights.

The past few months have been filled with engaging activities, insightful discussions, and plenty of opportunities for personal and academic growth. We are incredibly proud of our ROSS Leaders and the remarkable progress they’ve made throughout the semester. Their dedication, enthusiasm, and hard work have been truly inspiring. From group projects to individual achievements, our students have shown resilience and a commitment to excellence.

Looking ahead, we’re excited to announce that our summer programming will start on June 17th. We can't wait for another successful season and are excited to see what our students will achieve. A big thank you to all our participants, parents, and supporters for making this program such a success. Together, we’re building a brighter future for our young leaders.

Jacob Idra and Majak Wenyin embarked on quite the adventure in Africa! They kicked things off in Kampala, Uganda, hosting a basketball clinic and mingling with South Sudanese athletes. Then, they headed over to Juba, South Sudan, where they teamed up with Nyaduoth Lok and Nyamuoch Teng to spread the love through Nyaduoth's PlayOn! Initiative. 10 suitcases bursting at the seams with basketball shoes, tees, and sports gear, all thanks to Nyaduoth and Nyamuoch's incredible efforts.
In addition to distributing gear for PlayOn! our team organized a skills clinic for eager students and chatting with local advocates about how ROSS Leaders could bring South Sudanese communities together, whether they're back home or spread across the globe. Their conversations with community advocates were deep, probing into how they could bridge the gap between South Sudanese folks living in the homeland and those in the diaspora. It's not just about handing out gear—it's about fostering connections and support networks that last. What a journey! Jacob, Majak, Nyaduoth, and Nyamuoch are a real force for good, showing just how much positive change a few passionate folks can make in their communities.

Congratulations to our All-Stars Lizzy Puoth and Adhel Tac! Lizzy Puoth's team, the Kirkwood Eagles, clinched the NJCAA National Championship by defeating the Johnson County Cavaliers. Meanwhile, Adhel Tac and the South Carolina Gamecocks achieved an impressive victory against the University of Iowa in the NCAA Division 1 Championship. Well done to both athletes on their outstanding accomplishments!
We are excited to announce that ROSS Leaders has partnered with Raba Transport Service, a South Sudanese transportation startup that is revolutionizing the industry in East Africa. We extend our gratitude to founders Bol Abuk and Regina Lual for their belief in ROSS Leaders and our mission. Thank you!
